What Is the Difference Between Ceremonial and Culinary Matcha?

Ceremonial matcha uses the youngest spring harvest tea leaves, shade-grown for 3-4 weeks to boost chlorophyll and L-theanine. It's smooth, sweet, and vivid green. Culinary matcha uses mature leaves from multiple harvests — it's more bitter, duller green, and contains less L-theanine. For lattes, morning rituals, and any application where you're drinking the matcha, ceremonial grade is worth the premium. Culinary is only practical for baking where stronger flavors mask bitterness.
